How long does it take a pro to paint a house? ›

For exterior painting, you should aim for any time between March and October, as warmer temperatures and direct sunlight will allow the new coat to cure faster, ensuring the most consistent possible finish.

Don't paint on hot days, in the rain or during windy weather. Ideal temperatures for painting are between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot weather causes the paint to dry too quickly, as does direct sun.
